Discover The DIGINTEL Analytics & Analytics for Social Media Cognitive Platform
Calling All Academics
Industry analysts have identified analytics as the fastest growing software category for company spending. They also expect that the need for staff with these capabilities will outpace available skill sets in many organizations. This will mean that expertise in data mining and predictive analytics will be highly sought after for years to come. Specifically, there is a strong demand for employees to not only be able to report their results but also give a compelling story as to why these things are happening.
The employees of the future need leading-edge technology
To ensure that educational institutions like yours have access to leading-edge predictive analytics to help students prepare for these opportunities, DIGINTEL™ is proud to offer the DIGINTEL Cognitive Platform for Education. This program provides a special cost use of DIGINTEL Analytics on Watson software offering for students and courseware. Recruitment can be costly. A 2013 survey conducted by enrollment management firm Noel Levitz found that four-year private colleges spent a median of $2,433 recruiting each new freshman they enrolled.46 Four-year public institutions spent $457 per new student and two-year public institutions spent $123 per new student.47 Because of the costs involved, institutions aim to be as strategic as possible with the limited resources they have. Using predictive analytics, college admissions teams are able to individually score, usually on a scale between 0–10, each prospective student’s likelihood of becoming an applicant, being admitted, and deciding to enroll.48 To come up with these scores, colleges typically take into consideration a prospective student’s race and ethnicity, zip code, high school, anticipated major, and level of interest, as shown through either a campus tour or a request for promotional materials.49 With these scores, admissions teams can use their time and resources to aggressively recruit promising leads.
Predictive Analytics – Better Outcomes from Application to Matriculation
Enrollment managers analyze multiple key performance indicators (KPIs) such as academic history, demographics and geographical data to better predict which students will enroll if they are accepted. In particular, universities can use geographical data to narrow recruitment campaigns to specific locations and markets.
If a university admissions office has a firm understanding of which geographical locations include the most applicants who enroll, it can cut marketing costs and produce enhanced results. Rather than investing in unfocused campaigns that target a wide audience, money can be invested in specific markets that are more likely to boost the university’s yield rate. A university’s yield rate, or the percentage of admitted applicants who decide to enroll, can be used as a competitive advantage by making a university more desirable in the eyes of future applicants. A university’s yield rate, or the percentage of admitted applicants who decide to enroll, can also be used as a competitive advantage because it is a key metric in US News and World Report ratings for universities.
In this webinar, Helix VP of Enrollment Miranda Benson discusses enrollment and retention best practices in higher ed, including:
– How to streamline and optimize your enrollment operations – Industry realities surrounding student persistence and retention – How to utilize a coaching mindset throughout the student lifecycle – How to create tiered and personalized student action plans – Data’s role in enrollment and retention

Student retention is the biggest challenge facing education institutions today. But how do you manage at-risk students?
At Ithaca College, they have expanded their recruiting and enrollment initiatives, using analytics to identify students who have the best fit, expanding their recruiting reach to minority students and subsequently, attracting students who thrive and graduate from Ithaca. At Marist College, they use analytics an academic early-warning solution that improves its ability to keep academically at-risk students on track to graduate, especially student attrition risks across institutions that have sharply divergent socioeconomic characteristics among their student bodies.
Learn how both these institutions have applied deep analytics capabilities to address student attrition in two unique ways.
